A STATEMENT FROM SHELDON SIMPSON

Sheldon Simpson - Ontario Party Haldimand-Norfolk Candidate

A Statement from Sheldon Simpson

Round one. We did not score a knockout in the first round of this title fight. At this time, you aren't sending me to Queen's Park to represent you.

Not yet.

What we achieved is nothing shy of astounding. In two short months we mounted a grass-roots campaign to take back our province, and with your support, the Ontario Party is the fastest growing political movement in Canadian history. We stood up together and will continue to stand through one of the most trying times in our lifetime. The friendships and relationships forged here during the campaign are strong and many will last a lifetime.

This is a David and Goliath battle. Goliath is not yet defeated and we are standing ready to fight again. We have built a strong foundation and our future is brighter today than it was only a couple of months ago.

Accountability and change are on the horizon.

Together we did this in just two months; imagine what we can accomplish before the next election in four years! We will continue to grow, continue to help others become aware of what is happening, and continue to rally greater numbers of people who are concerned about the direction that our provincial leadership is taking us in terms of freedoms, healthcare, education, curriculum, elder care, the stifling of small businesses, promotion of both inflation and housing shortages, notthe lack of protection against foreign interests, jump-starting the growth of racism by teaching it in our schools and higher education, and planting seeds of division through mainstream media.

We aren't in government yet, so we need to keep the pressure on those who are elected. Continue to make noise so that agendas aren't pushed without any push-back.

This is just the beginning.

I still encourage you to take an active part in taking back our province. Even though we did not achieve political position as a provincial party, it is we, the ordinary people who still hold the power to ignite a transformative grassroots movement that will bring social, economic and political change to our community and our province. As we begin to introduce local initiatives, we will call on you, the people, to join us in our blazing efforts to take an active part in taking back our province. If you have suggestions and ideas of how we can accomplish this together, please reach out to me.

Run for something: council, your school board, your library board, and more. If we're not serving in these positions, then who is and what do they stand for?

If we don't stand for anything, we stand for nothing.

I have so many people to thank. To my wife and children who have stood by my side, to the many capable, organized and dedicated volunteers who have helped me, to the many donors who made all this possible and to the Ontario Party for encouraging me to run and supporting me throughout the campaign; thank you seems so inadequate considering all that you have done. You are so appreciated.

Together, we stand strong.

Doors have been opened, other doors have been closed. My path has been paved, my footsteps guided to be where we are, and I am thankful to God for that. We are put with people in a place, at a time, for a reason, and we need to honor that. We will continue to fight.

To everyone who has supported me, to everyone who has been involved, to everyone who trusted me with your vote:

Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Our platform is built on 6 pillars

Family

We recognize the family as the fundamental institution of a healthy, functional society and the best place for the formation of healthy, responsible citizens. We believe in honouring parents as the primary educators of their children while respecting the values by which they choose to live and raise their children.

Freedom

We believe in freedom of conscience, freedom of worship and religion, freedom of speech, freedom of education, freedom of association and assembly.

Faith

We recognize that one of Ontario’s great strengths is diversity of culture and religious faith. We also affirm that such faith provides a foundational component of our communities, our history, and the role of government. We believe good governance necessitates an acknowledgment of universal truths that apply to all people, regardless of their religious background.

Fiscal Responsibility

We believe balanced budgets to be the most responsible fiscal policy. We affirm that a surplus budget is over-taxation. Ontario’s current debt is the highest on record. A staggering 400 billion dollars, or an additional $40,000 per person annually.

Truth

We believe in limited government and the indispensable role that autonomous institutions such as places of worship, family, and any other voluntary associations play in maintaining those limits by balancing and diffusing the power and size of the state. We affirm that our political leaders should answer questions with truth and sincerity.

Transparency

We understand that you need to know how and why a decision is made in Goverment. The Ontario Party is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure your trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Ontario needs a transparent government in order to have a truthful government.
